Ex-Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria
Ex-Real Madrid great Angel Di Maria declares he will retire from international football after the Copa America.

Former Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria has announced that he would retire from the Argentina national team after the Copa America 2024.

The 35-year-old winger, who now plays for Benfica, confirmed his retirement from international football following the Copa America 2024 in November 2023. However, current sources imply that Di Maria may compete for Argentina in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

In an interview with TyCSports (via Albiceleste Talk on X), Di Maria said that his choice has not altered. He said:

“I don’t think it’s conceivable to compete in the Olympic Games; I believe it’s over. The Copa América will be the last. It’s the ideal time to say farewell to this shirt.”

Di Maria debuted for Argentina in September 2008, after previously playing for Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus. Since then, he has 136 caps and has helped the team capture World Cup, Copa America, and Olympic gold.

The dynamic winger will want to close out his remarkable international career with another Copa America success. This season, he has been an important player for Benfica, scoring 11 goals and assisting five others in 27 appearances across competitions.

The head of La Liga thinks Kylian Mbappe's chances of signing with Real Madrid are "more than 50%"

Kylian Mbappe’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain ends this summer, and Real Madrid has a high chance of signing him, according to La Liga president Javier Tebas. The PSG star has not yet decided where he will play next season, although he will become a free agent on July 1.

For years, the Frenchman has been connected to a transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu, and Los Blancos have made many fruitless efforts to sign him.

Regarding Mbappe’s potential move to Real Madrid, Tebas told Marca (via 90 minutes):

“I think high. It’s my own view. The player is 26 years old.PSG does not seem to be planning on keeping him. It will rely on Real Madrid, the president, and his willingness to gamble. Real Madrid must believe that with the addition of [Jude] Bellingham, he already has a star; Vinicius [Junior] is another. If the player wants to move to Madrid, more than half of them will go.”

According to speculations in France, the winger has already decided to come to the Bernabeu this summer. However, Mbappe’s agents have disputed the claims (via 90min).
