Abdulhamid was a part of the Saudi Arabia team that pulled off the greatest upset of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. In the Group C opening, Al-Akhdar stunned Argentina with a 2-1 comeback victory.
During the surprise triumph, the Al Hilal defender stood toe-to-toe with Lionel Messi, and he made sure to remember the experience. On his bag is a photo of him traveling with an image of the Argentine superstar lifting him up off the ground.

Messi, 36, led Argentina to World Cup success in Qatar, but his campaign began with a surprise setback to Saudi Arabia. He went on to score seven goals and provide three assists in seven games as his country won the prestigious trophy.
Saudi Arabia were eliminated in the group stage but will be remembered for their spectacular triumph against Argentina. The Al Hilal full-back may have played with Messi.
However, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner rejected down a transfer to MLS club Inter Miami.
