The Brazilian league and the MLS are the two leagues that Al-Hilal sensation Neymar Jr. still hopes to play in.
The superstar attacker recently departed the European arena, completing a £78 million transfer to Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain. Along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, he has left Europe’s football hub.
In a recent interview, the Selecao’s all-time leading scorer was asked whether he would prefer to play in another league. He responded through GE Globo:
I can’t answer whether or not I would do it. I don’t know; I think it mostly relies on the here and now, on your decisions and your desires. I’d want to return to Brazil someday and play professional soccer. It is my hope that I will be able to return here again.
I, too, aspired to make my professional playing debut in the States. I’m highly interested in joining these two leagues. Arabia? No idea, it all depends. It’s up to you to figure out whether the time is perfect for you based on how you feel about your life, your family, and your relationships.
Neymar is yet to make his Al Hilal debut due to an ankle injury incurred last season. Fans will be watching to see how he does on his new journey in Saudi Arabia.
Neymar has hinted at a possible return to Santos
Coming up through the ranks of Santos, Neymar was regarded as one of the greatest young players in the world. He put on several spectacular performances for the Brazilian club, which supporters remember fondly.
As a result, his return to the club would be a fairytale event. Neymar was asked whether he would ever consider donning the shirt of his childhood club again. He responded (through the previously indicated source):
A lifelong Santos supporter explains why he finally made it back to the city: “Man, I never stopped staying away from Santos, I’ve always been an openly Santos guy, I’m Santos, I came back now because I had the opportunity to be here, to be able to go to the game, sometimes when I was on vacation due to travel and everything, I ended up not having time to go, but this time I had to book.”
During his stint with Santos, Neymar appeared in 139 games. Before joining Barcelona in 2013, he has 72 goals and 37 assists for the Brazilian national team.
