Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is allegedly ready to go if Mauricio Pochettino drops him, and Tottenham Hotspur are still intrigued.
Gallagher would ponder his future at Stamford Bridge if he loses his position in Pochettino’s squad before January, according to Football Insider (via TEAMTalk). The England international understands the need of game time as he prepares for the European Championships next year.
As Romeo Lavia recovers from injury, the 23-year-old might find himself under pressure shortly. The Belgian midfielder was bought from Southampton in the summer for £53 million and might be vying for Gallagher’s job.
Meanwhile, Carney Chukwuemeka has been sidelined for six weeks after surgery. He, too, might compete for Gallagher’s starting spot for a Chelsea team that has struggled to start the season.
Gallagher has started all six of the Blues’ games this season in all competitions. He has yet to score or assist, and his future was questionable in the summer due to Tottenham’s interest.
Tottenham are still interested in the English midfielder who has led Chelsea in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell. He has two years remaining on his contract, and the club’s financial predicament may force him to leave.
The Blues will explore selling Gallagher for a fair price in order to improve their Financial Fair Play rating. In the summer, talkSPORT claimed that the club valued the midfielder at £50 million.
