On Monday (September 18), fans were ecstatic to see Inter Miami star Lionel Messi attend his oldest son, Theo’s, academy game.

Theo, 10, just joined the Herons’ U12 team and made his debut against Weston FC in the Florida Academy League on Thursday (September 14). During the game, Theo, who was wearing a cast on his hand, celebrated one of his team’s scores.

Messi’s oldest son is making waves in South Florida after playing at Barcelona’s Barca Escola (for youngsters aged six to eight) and age-group football at Paris Saint-Germain.

The sight of Theo’s legendary father at Miami’s school on Monday did not go unnoticed by fans. One fan remarked on an Instagram image of Lionel Messi presumably wearing the coach’s cap at his son’s academy post:

“What is he wearing?”

Another person commented:

“True American now”.

It’s worth noting that Thiago’s eight-year-old brother, Matteo, has also joined an Inter Miami age-group squad.
