Chelsea supporters lauded Enzo Fernandez’s performance in Argentina’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Bolivia.

On Tuesday, September 12, La Albiceleste headed to La Pas to face La Verde at the Estadio Hernando Siles. Lionel Scaloni’s side cruised to a 3-0 win to maintain their unblemished record in qualification.

Argentina needed others to step up with icon Lionel Messi sidelined, and Fernandez was one of them. In the 31st minute, the Chelsea player made a dashing move past the Bolivian defense to get onto the end of Angel Di Maria’s cross and poke the ball home, giving his side the lead.

Shortly after he scored, Blues supporters on X (previously Twitter) showered him with appreciation, with one writing:

“He’s so special man.”

Another user tweeted:

“That’s my starboy.”

Here are some more responses from fans:

Apart from scoring Argentina’s first goal, Fernandez was cool on the ball and helped defensively as well.

He completed 33 of his 39 attempted passes (85% accuracy) and had three shots on goal, except a thundering strike from distance that struck the crossbar. The champion of the 2022 FIFA World Cup also won two fouls and three of his six duels, as well as a clearing.

Only eight minutes after Fernandez’s goal, Bolivia’s Roberto Fernandez, who was previously booked, received a straight red card for a nasty challenge on Cristian Romero. Argentina then took full advantage of the circumstances, winning 3-0 thanks to goals from Nicolas Tagliafico (42′) and Nicolas Gonzalez (83′).
