Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that Mohamed Salah will not be leaving the club this summer. He also said that the Egyptian has not approached him about any offers for his services and is focused on his work at the club.
Al Ittihad is aiming to sign Salah before the end of the week. The Saudi Pro League club’s proposal of more than £100 million was rejected last week, but they are already drafting a fresh offer.
Liverpool, on the other hand, has no intention of accepting it, as Klopp has often said. Following Sunday’s 3-0 Premier League victory against Aston Villa, the German told Sky Sports (via TeamTalk):
Salah’s dedication to the club was something I never questioned. The world has made such a big deal out of this, but we’re taking it all in stride. He’s committed to become one of our players.
I didn’t ask, and he didn’t feel obligated to tell me. His training, performances, and demeanor say volumes. This week, we attended sessions where we discussed our future plans rather than our previous accomplishments.
He added:
A member of the players’ leadership committee said, “Mo had his moments when he was talking, and there was nothing like ‘by the way, this is just till next week’ or something. For Mo to inform me, “By the way, boss… (I’m not going),” he need not enter my office.
To be quite frank, apart from the queries (from the outside), it wasn’t a topic for me for a single second. On Friday, no one at the club warned me that things may go wrong. I would have gotten a call, I’m sure of it.
On Sunday, Mohamed Salah scored the Reds’ third goal.
The goals of Al Ittihad include acquiring Mohamed Salah of Liverpool
This summer, Al Ittihad recruited Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Jota to boost their roster. They also signed Liverpool’s Fabinho to play with the former Chelsea star in midfield.
They are, however, desperate to add another elite player before the window shuts in order to win the championship again this season. Last season, they beat Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr to the top place, and they want to do so again this season.
Nuno Santos’ team is third in the league following a 4-3 loss to Al Hila, who were without their star acquisition Neymar, last week.
Former Sky Sports commentator Richard Keys claims that Al Ittihad has prepared a physical for Salah and is sure of attracting the Liverpool star before the deadline.
